As many have experienced the growth of online gaming through the years, with the text book Discovering the internet from 2012, has expanded greatly than what the book covers. Not only are there online web sites for games, there's also separate gaming clients and servers that gaming companies have made and are played on the desktop rather than on a web site. It can pull better computer resources and not be limited to the capability of a web browser such as internet explorer or Google chrome. MMORGPS such as World of Warcraft are popular around the world and the developers even have their own convention called Blizzcon, and to show off other popular game types that they have. The game Elite: Dangerous is a space simulator of the entire milky way galaxy with bounty hunting, trading, and exploration of the cosmos. A recent standalone of the current game Elite: Dangerous Horizons added planetary landings. The spaceships can be controlled on all axis in any direction that a pilot wants and is best played with a HOTAS (hands on stick and throttle) setup as I have with my thrustmaster. The popular family simulator game The Sims can go through a whole life simulation from birth to death with babies, adults, pets and more. There are children orientated games that they can play that are education to help them develop. Many more genres of games are out there for people to explore and experience and connect to others around the world.
